I'm always writing about my Dad being such a goofball...
and I mean this in the most loving way. He was hilariously funny! So when I read this story about Astronaut John Young taking a Corned Beef Sandwich into space in 1965, I couldn't help but think this was something Dad would do.
Sadly NASA and Congress didn't think this was funny and Young was reprimanded (The first ever BTW). You can read the full story and dialogue between Young and Grissom HERE. I had no idea how dangerous crumbs can be in a weightless environment. You will also read what a rye (Pun intended) sense of humor Grissom had.
